Nuclear structure of elements with $$100 le Z le 109$$ from alpha spectroscopy

Asai, Masato; He${ss}$berger, F. P.*; Lopez-Martens, A.*

Nuclear Physics A, 944, p.308 - 332, 2015/12

 Times Cited Count:54 Percentile:95.62(Physics, Nuclear)

Nuclear structure of Z = 100-109 nuclei studied through $$alpha$$-decay spectroscopy have been reviewed. Experimental techniques and methods concerning separation techniques, summing effects in $$alpha$$ spectra, and the use of digital electronics for $$alpha$$-decay spectroscopy have been described in detail. The presentation of the experimental results and the physics discussion were focused on nuclear structure systematics in even-Z nuclei along the N = 151, 153, and 155 isotonic lines, where most progress has been achieved in the last 10 years.

Time domain response analysis for assembly by integrating components

Nakajima, Norihiro; Nishida, Akemi; Kawakami, Yoshiaki; Suzuki, Yoshio; Matsukawa, Keisuke*; Oshima, Masami*; Izuchi, Hisao*

Transactions of the 23rd International Conference on Structural Mechanics in Reactor Technology (SMiRT-23) (USB Flash Drive), 10 Pages, 2015/08

The digital shaking table is introduced to carry out numerical experiments for the so called STRUCTURE of a petroleum plant. In numerical experiments, STRUCTURE was precisely modelled as it is designed and meshed into fine finite elements. The components of STRUCTURE were meshed one by one, and the code of a finite element analysis for structure of assembly gathered every meshed components to run time domain response analysis. Four waves are applied to the analysis to determine its behaviour. Four waves are namely as El Centro, Taft, Hachinohe, and Geiyo. The results of experiments are discussed by comparing accumulating data in the past. It is concluded to reconfirm the methodology of gathering meshed components and a finite element analysis for structure of assembly with the STRUCTURE.

Proceedings of 4th International Conference of Asian Special Libraries (ICoASL 2015) (USB Flash Drive), 8 Pages, 2015/04

Recently, a large quantity of digital contents is distributed on the Internet. Therefore, it is important for us to consider how we can add the value and increase the access to our library bibliographic information metadata. Availability from multiple channels and providing link to the full text may become a solution. This paper describes the case of Japan Atomic Energy Agency Library, as an example to improve our library database that is providing the R&D information (academic papers, oral presentation, and technical reports) of our institute. JAEA library provides this information through JAEA Originated Papers Searching System (JOPSS). This system was improved by providing access channels for the metadata and link to full text. In addition, user interface was constructed based on the information seeking behavior.

Development of dose monitoring system applicable to various radiations with wide energy ranges

Sato, Tatsuhiko; Satoh, Daiki; Endo, Akira; Yamaguchi, Yasuhiro

Journal of Nuclear Science and Technology, 42(9), p.768 - 778, 2005/09

 Times Cited Count:17 Percentile:73.42(Nuclear Science & Technology)

A new inventive radiation monitor, designated to DARWIN (Dose Assessment system applicable to various Radiations with WIde energy raNges), has been developed for monitoring doses at workspaces of high energy accelerator facilities and on ground. Characteristics of DARWIN were studied by both calculation and experiment. The calculated results indicate that DARWIN gives reasonable estimations of doses at most radiation fields. It was found from the experiment that DARWIN has an excellent property of measuring doses from all particles that significantly contribute to the background dose - photon, muon and neutron with wide energy ranges.

Low level RF control system for J-PARC RCS

Tamura, Fumihiko; Schnase, A.; Nomura, Masahiro; Yamamoto, Masanobu; Yoshii, Masahito*; Anami, Shozo*; Ezura, Eiji*; Hara, Keigo*; Omori, Chihiro*; Takagi, Akira*

Proceedings of 2nd Annual Meeting of Particle Accelerator Society of Japan and 30th Linear Accelerator Meeting in Japan, p.690 - 692, 2005/07

We describe the low level RF (LLRF) control system for the J-PARC Rapid Cycling Synchrotron (RCS). The LLRF system is required to be very stable and precise to achieve the high accelerating beam current. The system has the functions of the multi-harmonic RF generation, the feedback loops, the beam loading compensation, and other miscellaneous functions. The fully-digital LLRF system of the RCS is now under construction. The preliminary test results are also shown.

Reconstruction of CT images by the Bayes-back projection method

Haruyama, Mitsuo; Takase, Misao*; Iwasaki, Shin*; Tobita, Hiroshi

JAERI-Research 2002-022, 91 Pages, 2002/12

JAERI-Research-2002-022.pdf:37.97MB

In the course of research on quantitative assay of non-destructive measurement of radioactive waste, the authors have developed a unique program based on the Bayesian theory for reconstruction of transmission computed tomography (TCT) image. The reconstruction of cross-section images in the CT technology usually employs the Filtered Back Projection method. The new imaging reconstruction program reported here is based on the Bayesian Back Projection method, and it has a function of iterative improvement images by every step of measurement. Namely, this method has the capability of prompt display of a cross-section image corresponding to each angled projection data from every measurement. Hence, it is possible to observe an improved cross-section view by reflecting each projection data in almost real time. The present reconstruction program developed here for the $$gamma$$-ray CT can widely applied also to, for instance, the Neutron Imaging and the Positron Emission Tomography (PET).
